Vieux Carré, meaning Old Square, is the name given to the Old French Quarter of New Orleans. This vibrant city with its' blend of cultures and ethnic groups gave birth to may of today's most loved and iconic cocktails.
In 1937 Walter Bergeron, head bartender of The Carousel Piano Bar & Lounge within The Hotel Monteleone, New Orleans created the Vieux Carré cocktail as a tribute to the ethnic groups that made up the French Quarter at the time and it has stuck around ever since, and is served in many illustrious bars around the world.
The blend of Rye Whisky, Cognac, Sweet Vermouth, Benedictine, Peychaud's & Angostura bitters offers up a timeless cocktail that is decadent and symbolic of the vibrant Jazz fuelled streets of New Orleans.
